Ziad Razak is an Associate Director with PEMANDU (Performance Management and Delivery Unit), a unit within the Prime Minister’s Department of the Government of Malaysia. Ziad combines an extensive career in management consulting with deep appreciation and interest in public policy and politics.
He began his career as a crude oil trader with the Malaysian-owned multinational oil and gas corporation, PETRONAS. He later moved on to join a Kuala Lumpur-based management consulting firm, Ethos & Company. From 2007 to 2009, he served the fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, as a Special Officer in the Policy Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office.
His interests include politics and government – especially Malaysian and American; Islamic philosophy and theology; and all things technology. He maintains a regular (of sorts) column for the Malaysian Insider.
Ziad read Engineering at Cambridge University, England. He is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, and happily married to Kat Rahmat
